Hey Sis! I’m Mpho Perras

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California

Are you tired of feeling like something is missing? Do you struggle with self-doubt, have difficulty trusting others, or find yourself in unhealthy relationship patterns? You’re not alone, and more importantly, you deserve to feel whole.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Bay Area native, I’ve dedicated my career to helping women of color—especially those dealing with father wound trauma—reclaim their self-worth and build the fulfilling relationships they deserve.

My own healing journey began when my father left our family when I was 11 years old. I experienced the same struggles many of my clients face: plummeting self-esteem, constant self-doubt, difficulty trusting friends, and feeling unworthy in romantic relationships. That pain led me on a path of self-discovery that ultimately became my purpose.

Initially, I thought psychology wasn’t for me and pursued Criminal Justice instead. But witnessing the injustices faced by the BIPOC community in that system didn’t align with my values. I knew I was meant to heal, not perpetuate harm. That’s when I returned to my calling and became a therapist.

Since opening Peaceful Thoughts Therapy in 2015, I’ve noticed a powerful pattern: the father wound affects nearly every woman who walks through my door. Whether your father was absent, emotionally unavailable, or inconsistent, those early experiences shaped how you see yourself, relationships, and your place in the world.

This isn’t a coincidence—it’s my specialty. I help women like you overcome anxiety and depression rooted in childhood trauma, build genuine self-esteem and confidence, create healthy relationship patterns with partners, friends, and family, and develop a loving relationship with yourself that transforms everything.

My approach focuses on creating inner peace, one thought at a time—because when you heal your relationship with yourself, everything else follows.

When I’m not in session with incredible women like you, I’m living my best life as a wife, mom to two amazing daughters, and a dog parent. You’ll find me cheering from the sidelines as a sports mom, lunch dates with my hubby, diving into book club discussions, enjoying brunches and dinners with friends, or unwinding with Netflix, podcasts, and audiobooks.

I share this because healing doesn’t mean perfection—it means embracing all parts of yourself while building the life you truly want.

If you’re a woman of color struggling with father wound trauma, relationship anxiety, or low self-esteem, I want you to know that transformation is possible. Together, we can uncover the patterns holding you back and create the confident, peaceful life you deserve.

Your healing journey starts with a single step. Let’s take it together.

My Philosophy

I believe healing happens when women feel truly seen, heard, and safe to explore their deepest wounds without judgment. As a woman of color myself, I understand the unique pain of navigating a world where you’re often invisible or reduced to harmful stereotypes—and how this compounds the father wound trauma. My approach combines evidence-based techniques with humor, justice, and genuine human connection because I know that laughter can be as powerful as tears in the healing process. Every woman deserves to move through life with confidence and inner peace, free from the shame and self-doubt that father abandonment creates. Through our work together, you’ll not only heal your relationship with yourself but also develop the trust and tools needed to build the fulfilling relationships you’ve always deserved.
